The Story of Maple Bear
The Maple Bear Education System™ was developed for CECN Global Schools to bring a Canadian designed early learning program for children around the world. It was created by Canadian experts and is being constantly upgraded to ensure that the Maple Bear education experience reflects the very best in early childhood education.
At Maple Bear we believe that nothing is more important than our children. The Maple Bear mission is to provide high quality early childhood and elementary education in a safe, secure and stimulating environment, which will present children with a foundation for lifelong learning. Our goal is to establish an enthusiasm for learning and knowledge in the young ones.
There are currently more than 125 Maple Bear Global Schools operating all over the world with over 39 schools in India. The head office of Maple Bear India is located in New Delhi, India.
Maple Bear Dehradun
The school follows a philosophy that teaching and learning can be made stress free and enjoyable for a better educating experience for the child. When a child enters school he is curious and hopes for an enjoyable experience. What follows in a conventional school is perhaps a disillusionment that the child faces, and gradually finds school to be boring, monotonous or full of stress.
At Maple Bear Dehradun we realise the need to give a better learning experience to the children of Dehradun, and follow a system which recognises the individual needs of children, taps into their talents and also creates a community of people (including teachers and parents) who want children to not only be intellectually smart but also have strong social and emotional strengths.
Maple Bear was developed with a vision to provide special features and advantages to its students.
It is distinguished from other schools by its comprehensive nature:
- Designed and structured to educate the child in a wholesome manner: physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially
- Play is part of the preschool, but Maple Bear is much more than a play school or Montessori
- Integration of subjects provides a rich and stimulating program which encourages creativity, imagination and self-expression
- Maple Bear provides a secure environment where risk-taking is encouraged and where children see themselves as capable and competent learners
- Diverse learning styles and developments are respected at all times
- Since language arts is a priority of the child-centered program at Maple Bear, children will not only learn how to read but will also develop a love for reading.
The Maple Bear methodology is based on the well established principle that children learn through experience and exploration. When children enter school they regard learning as a pleasurable experience so they are naturally inclined and eager to learn. It is important that the program reinforces and builds on this positive attitude by offering varied, motivating and enjoyable experiences, which Maple Bear prides itself in doing.
Children learn through direct sensory experience and need to manipulate, explore and experiment with real objects. They are naturally curious about their world and are eager to learn about it. They are active learners and learn through a variety of ways. Play is the serious work of children; as they play they clarify information, integrate ideas from their previous experiences, explore and experiment with their current environment. Through play children learn to deal with their feelings, interact with children and adults, and resolve conflicts. They develop their imagination and creativity.
Children need to learn to make connections with past experiences and current learning. Integrating topics with skill development will help the children make sense of the world and their learning. The skills are developed through a multitude of activities and the centers are used to extend their hands-on learning. Certain regular periods of the day allow for self-initiated play. There are regular daily activities such as story time, snack, outdoor play, calendar, weather, news and clean-up.
